Following the ongoing
ASUU strike, the Students Union Government (SUG) of the Ambrose Alli
University, Ekpoma, Edo State has released a press statement urging
students to converge for a peaceful demonstration tagged #EndASUU_strike_FG on Monday,
19th of October.
Details of
the press statement can be seen below:
Combatant greetings from the Students Union Government,
Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
Greatest
Aauites, you will recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)
declared an indefinite strike to call the attention of the Federal Government,
an action which as at now has spanned over 7 months.
Quite
unfortunately, it is now evidence that the relevant authorities are little or
not concerned about the welfare of Nigerian students, the supposed
"Leaders of Tomorrow" as no concrete compromise has been reached
thus far.
We,
therefore, call on all students of Ambrose Alli University to converge at the
school gate for a peaceful demonstration on Monday the 19th of
October by 9am prompt and the protest is tagged #EndAsuu_strike_FG.
This
protest is premised on the continued halfhearted and lethargic response
of the government to the ailing sector of education in our great country.
We
thereby call on all students to come out en mass as we send a message
to the government that education is a right and not a privilege!
The struggle continues, Victory is certain!
God
bless Nigeria! God bless AAU! God bless you!
